Health, Wellness & Ergonomic Programs


Work Wellness Ergonomic Specialists are industry specialists in injury and illness prevention strategies.

A good working relationship begins by understanding who you are working with. At Work Wellness we’ve done our homework on your industry to help understand what you need. Our specialists are passionate about what you do and can use their knowledge to help you improve your bottom line.

By understanding you we can provide fast efficient service that’s tailored to your business.
As our name indicates we are specialists. Our assessors specialize in wellness and ergonomics for specific industries rather than being generalists. This gives you the advantage of working with someone who understands your issues and the demands particular to your industry. Working with a specialist allows for faster completion of work, better solutions, and a focused approach to your needs.

Program 1 – The Lunch and Learn

During our lunch and learn series we will educate your company on key health and wellness topics. In four consecutive sessions held weekly or monthly we inform you about the cornerstones of workplace wellness: Stress Busting; Getting Fit and Staying Fit; Joints, Joints, Joints: Neck and Back Care; and Slips, Trips and Falls: Staying Safe in any Environment. 

This series can be supplemented or substituted with other topics such as Smoking Cessation, Too Sweet: Diabetes Care, The Beat Goes On: Overcoming Heart Disease; The Ergonomic Office, Safe Lifting, etc. If there is a topic you don’t see here just ask and we probably have it.

Program 2 - Education and Ergonomics

Education and ergonomics combines our lunch and learn with a worksite ergonomic check-up. We provide you with four lunch and learn education topics, and four work assessments. This means you can have four areas or four workstations/jobs assessed. You identify areas of concerns and we assess and provide solutions.

Program 3 – Workplace Wellness

Workplace Wellness is your on-going support for your health and wellness initiatives. Work Wellness visits your workplace every month to provide just the services you need.  Extended health education sessions; training on first aid, safety, or ergonomics; ergonomic consultation; assistance with return to work issues, and functional testing or screening if need. You pick the services you need and we create a wellness package just for you.

We service pharmaceutical, financial, publishing, healthcare, agriculture and vintners, call centres, office and computer settings, and many more.

Stress Busting
During our stress busting lunch and learn session we discuss the physical impact of stress on the body and provide practical tips for overcoming and relieving stress. Often you can head off stress with a little planning, but for those times when you are caught off guard or just can’t seem to get a break, we can give you sure-fire ways to keep yourself sane and healthy.

Getting Fit and Staying Fit
Exercise and physical activity is one of the corner stones of a health life style. Finding the time in the day and the motivation is often the biggest challenge facing many individuals. During our education session we will equip you with the real facts about physical activity and just how much you need. Take the pressure off and find the fun in fitness. Additionally we will discuss how you can find opportunities during your day to improve your physical condition without completely overhauling your routine. Find the right activity that fits into your lifestyle so that you can stick with it.

Joints, Joints, Joints: Neck and Back Care
The neck and back are as series of joints that provide us stability and mobility. They also cause us the most pain and discomfort of any of our joints. We aim with this course to help you get out and stay out of pain. We will inform you about those joints, and explains back strains, slipped discs, and “throwing out” your back. We will tell you how to take care of your neck and back when performing common activities. Learn how to lift correctly, how to pamper your neck, and some quick and easy exercises for improving the condition of your neck and back.


Slips, Trips and Falls: Staying Safe in any Environment
Slips, trips and falls are the most common injuries in any environment. Avoidance of this type of accident is a critcal piece of any health and safety program at work, but should also be part of your home and life routine. During the course we will discuss how slips, trips and falls usually occur, how to modify your environment to prevent these accidents, and what to watch out for in other environments like the grocery store. The legislation surrounding this safety issue will also be reviewed.

Good Nutrition at Work:
With all the information in the media about nutrition, good fat, bad fat, etc. it is hard to determine how to incorporate a healthy diet into a busy life.  In our education session we will give you the clear facts about what helps to keep you healthy and alert while at work. We’ll explain which foods have a positive and negative impact on these levels. We’ll give you a game plan for keeping yourself healthy, even while eating at the cafeteria.

Too Sweet: Diabetes Care
The epidemic of diabetes is predicted to spiral out of control in the next few years. But what is this mysterious disease and what cause it? We will explain diabetes and give you strategies for preventing this disease. If you already have diabetes or the precursors for diabetes we will discuss what you can do to prevent an increase in the severity of condition and how to manage your health.

The Beat Goes On: Preventing Heart Disease
With all the information in the media about heart disease, exercise, good fat, bad fat, etc. it is hard to determine what to do to protect your heart. In our education session we will give you the clear facts about what keeps your heart healthy. We’ll explain the role of cholesterol, HDLs and LDLs, as well as which foods impact these levels. We’ll discuss exercise and hereditary factors and give you a game plan for preventing heart disease.

The Ergonomic Office
Learn how to adjust your office workstation from the ground up. What is proper posture? Why is the chair the heart of the workstation? How do you avoid glare? What is the right position for your mouse? We’ll answer these questions and many more in addition to teaching you some quick and easy tension relieving exercises you can perform at your desk.

Safe Lifting
During this session we will cover the biomechanics of lifting and teach you how to keep your back safe. We’ll demonstrate how to lift a variety of objects, how to partner lift and how to prepare for a lift. Lifting is an activity that doesn’t just happen at work, but also at home. We’ll talk to you about lifting at home: groceries, snow, the kids and more.
